About
There are two games (Cricket & 01) that are played during dart leagues and competitions.
Cricket is a game of skill and strategy. The numbers that are used for this game are 20-19-18-17-16-15 and the Bullseye. A player "opens" a number by marking the number three times. This can be done through a combination of three singles, a single and a double, or a triple. Once the number is marked three times, any time it is marked by the player that opened that number points are accumulated by that player. (Ex. A player hits a triple and opens the number with his or her first dart, the second dart is a single 20, the third dart is a single 20. The player possesses the 20s and has accumulated 40 points). The opposing player has the same objective. Marking all the numbers three times and obtaining the most points. Opposing players can "close" numbers by marking their opponents number three times. Once this is done, that number can no longer be used to obtain points and therefore is considered a "dead" number. (Ex. 2 Player A opens and scores 40 points on the 20. Player B can either open and point on a new number OR hit the 20 three times in order to "close" the 20s). The object of the game is to open all of the numbers AND have the most points once all the numbers have been marked three times.
01 is also a game that requires skill and strategy. Depending on the level of experience, players can play 301-501-701-901. The object of the game is to start at either of those numbers and make your way down in descending order, ultimately ending with zero. The game uses any and all numbers on the board. However, players must be pay attention towards the end of the game. If a player exceeds the number of points needed to win the game by ending at zero, this is referred to as a BUST. (Ex. 1 Player starts at 501. The first dart is a Bullseye, the second dart a 20, and the third dart a 3. The player accumulated 73 total points for that round, meaning that the number displayed on the board is now 428. The player keeps throwing three darts a round until they reach zero). (Ex. 2 If a player's score is 68 points they may hit any combination of numbers to end up with zero points. If the player exceeds that amount, the screen will display a BUST icon. The score will return to 69 points and they will have to wait until the next round to attempt hitting 68 points.)
